Blog 31 - Monday, January 30, 2017

This past weekend, president Donald Trump put together an executive order to VET (make a careful and critical examination of) Muslims, particularly from the following seven (7) countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

Imagine being from one of those seven (7) countries and immediately told that you will NOT be able to return home for a minimum of 90 days, with a possibility of NEVER getting back in to your home?

How would this make you feel?
Is VETTING the right way to get rid of terrorism?
Is the president simply HATING one particular religion?

Explain.

  1. I would definitely not be happy with the fact that Trump isn't allowing me to stay or even allow me to let me live in my home. I really don't think that it is the right way of getting rid of terrorism. No obviously he isn't because he's hating every person who lives in those countries that were named and some of them have different religions.

  2. I would not appreciate being told that I wasn't aloud to go back to my home just because trump doesn't like other races doesn't mean they should be band from a country especially their own home . in my opinion trump has taken things way to far and should not have even been able to let this happen

    1. Well it was an executive order from the POTUS, so nobody really has the choice of saying no. Unless you want to be arrested for treason that is.

  3. I would be furious. I find it unfair to just simply refuse people into your country, especially when you carry the title of world leader. On the other hand, it's the Americans who voted trump in. The Americans already knew this would happen. There's definitely some hatred towards Islam there, but if they think its the best way to stop terrorism, I respect they're own opinion. I find it stupid and moronic but then, respect goes both ways. If I desire respect, I first must respect them, which includes they're opinions.

  4. i would be so mad, upset and i wouldn't understand why. i get it that trump is a racist man that doesn't like and accept cultures. i have no problem with other cultures because were all human and we decide to believe what we want to believe in. no one will think the same as you and its normal we all have different beliefs and people have to accept that because you cant change someone's beliefs. for me trump has taken away things that he shouldn't, like freedom. he took away freedom from different cultures.

  6. I would not like it if I was told that I am not allowed to return home for 90 days if I belonged from one of those seven countries. Vetting is not the right way to get rid of terrorism, there so many other strategies that can be planned by the U.S government. In fact things have became more violent since Trump came in presidency. I find that trump is a hypocrite, he hates on Islam and then on interviews he talks about his good relation with his Muslim business partners in Dubai. Trump is business minded and will do anything for his benefit.

  7. I would absolutely hate it if I was told that I am not allowed to go back home for 90 days after I did nothing.Vetting is a terrible way to get rid of terrorism, if anything it would cause more terrorist attack because it would just get people really angry and make them want to do things against the law.I believe trump is not doing the right thing at all and should and is just hatting on one particular region, which is one hundred percent not a good way to stop terrorist attacks.

  9. It would make me feel a million mixed emotions. Not good emotions. More or less hatred, confusion, upset, mad, torn apart, scared, sad, helpless and just a crap load of bad emotions. Vetting isn't the way to go to search for terrorist because you are taking away millions of peoples homes and families. They could be going through so much that vetting could just push them so far of the edge of life that they become a terrorist themselves.I understand that we can never be too sure who is a terrorist so they are taking extreme measures but there has to be another way then to take away the lives that the people there have built in america. Of course Trump is hating on certain religions. He has made it blatantly clear towards the world that certain religions shouldn't be allowed to enter america for the sake of security even if the people have lived there before the decision to exclude certain countries. That just goes to show that he is discriminating certain religions.

  10. I would be furious if I was told I couldn't go home for 90 days. Vetting is the worst way to get rid of terrorism because it's just showing the countries that we're scared of them. Why should an entire country be ban because one guy was a screw loose and was told if he shot up an airport that he'd be doing something right. Trump is definitely showing a lot of hate and racism to innocent people who just want a better life in the United States.

  12. If I was told that I could not go home for at least 90 day and maybe never, I would be very pissed off. Vetting is not the right way to get rid of terrorism, There are other ways to fight terrorist and other ways to get rid of them. I do think Trump is hating on one religion, and thats because he is a very racist person and should not be our president, not now and not ever.

  13. First off, SCREW YOU TRUMP YOU MEAN UGLY OLD MAN WHO WITH A SORE THROAT! Being from Iran I can no longer visit the United states with my family and nor can my cousins who live in New York visit us without the risk of not being allowed back in. Of course im glad we came to canada and not the u.s, but it actually wouldn't be as much a pain to us because we'd just end up living with my grandparents for 90 days, but then the risk of having to live there forever would be even worse and I would end up going to military and then getting some job i might not ever want, marry a persian girl and adapt back to my old culture, so ya, and this might be a similar case for those who might never come back. Vetting is not right and its horrible how trump is hating one specific religion

    1. I completely agree Donald Trump is a terrible person, vetting isn't right and he is hating on one religion

  14. I would feel helpless and terrible. I did nothing wrong and yet I'm being prevented from my basic rights. This isn't a way to get rid of terrorism. He's simply discriminating their race and it isn't fair. Trump claims to want to ban the countries that did 9/11. Although the countries he's banning weren't behind 9/11. The worst part is he didn't think this trough at all, I do not agree with his decision what so ever but he just signed this ruling and let everyone else figure the rest out, as if it were their job. No one knows how to deal with this situation.

  16. it is definitly not the right choice. i think he made it out of fear or incapability to control it. it was way overboard and is a little sad. being blocked out of my home would be insane in just minutes i could of become homeless and pretty much live on the streets

  17. If I was from one of those countries that was ordered to be vetted and heard about it I wouldn’t believe it I’d me in denial just thinking it was a scam or even a crude joke posted in the internet that blew up and now everyone believes like a fake post of a celebrity's death. Or even a mistake by the news station. But when I realise it is real and not fake I’d be outraged because just because where I’m from I am denied access to or from the united states it's preposterous! I don’t think vetting will get rid of terrorism because essentially banning people to go or leave the united states is just plain stupid and won’t really work. Mr Trump is being a major hypocrite because america is the land of the free and stands for freedom but he is not allowing freedom to enter or exit the country when you pleas if you are from those seven countries. I’m honestly not sure if he is hating on the religion or the occupants of the seven countries but all I know is the idea of vetting is just plain dumb.

  18. If I were from one of those countries and wouldn't be allowed back to my home I would be furious. I totally disagree with the ban because it is not the right way to get rid of terrorism. Trump is just causing more problems. There are so many other ways to stop terrorism and this is not a right way. Yes i think trump is just hating on a certain religion.

  19. I would be very mad if I was banned from my home if I was already living there. Vetting can stop some terrorism to me. It can reduce terrorism but is unfair to the good people from those countries that are looking for a new and good life. So yes it can stop a bit, but is still a bit unfair to the good people.

  21. I don't think that vetting is a good way to get rid of terrorism. The fact that the seven countries that he has banned from the United States aren't the people that are causing the terrorism problems, proves that he isn't banning them for the sake of ending terrorism, but because he is just racist. There are tons of white Americans that kill people everyday, but Trump won't ban whites from the country, so why should Muslims be banned? There are tons of people all over the world that have the intentions of killing people, it's not just Muslims. I don't think that there would ever be a way to stop people from killing other people, but banning a certain religion or race from a country is certainly not the answer to our problems. The Muslim religion already deals with a lot of hate just for respecting their own religion and it's not right. There will always be controversy in this world but that's just the way things are and we shouldn't judge people for having different opinions than us because we're all different and we all have different beliefs. Trump is definitely hating on Muslims and I just don't think its right to just say that all of our problems are because of a certain religion or race. White people have priveledges that other races don't have, and we should use our platform to try and stop racism, but we don't because we don't realize what other races have to deal with each day. We don't realize that people are scared to leave their homes because of all the hate they'll get, just for being themselves. And now, with the new law that Trump has come up with, these people don't even have a home. They can't even come into they're own country, all because of something so stupid. Their religion.

  22. I would feel confused and helpless. I don't think vetting is the way to get rid of terrorism since not everybody is a bad person. I think trump should put an end to vetting this certain religion since it's unfair for the people born into it that have never done anything wrong. I think we need to work together and not push away one particular religion since there is bad people in every religion.

  23. To not be able to return to my home for a minimum of 90 days would make me very upset, frustrated and tired. I do not think vetting is the right way to get rid of terrorism. The president is most likely hating one particular religion only because of what’s been done in the past. It is wrong what he is doing but if he thinks his country will be safe because of everything that has happened with ISIS then there is nothing really to do and no one can change his decision.

  24. If I wasn't aloud to get home for 90 days I would be terrified and angry and scared. I think that Donald Trump is just hating on one particular religion and I do not think that the way to get rid of terrorism is with vetting. He's scared for his country's safety but he's going about it all wrong and coming off as an ass, which in my opinion he totally is.

  25. I agree with your point of view and also think that Donald Trump isn't doing right by his country right now....we'll see if he can do anything good for America in the future.

  26. I think it is obvious that what trump is doing is wrong and we should waste no time stating that as everybody knows the truth. However it is also known that terrorism is an issue in the united states and will continue to be so until the states fixes the mistakes they have made over the past 50 years that have resulted in failing democratizes and the war for oil. These mistakes have and will out define this century and possibly centuries to come as the middle east has failed to create any sustainable democratizes and the states invading every 5 years with some made up reason to hide the fact that they're going there to lower oil prices. In the pursuit of oil the states has caused a war that threatens the life of the people living there and has slowed down progress in areas like education and medicine. Growing up in the middle east probably brings dreams over a more secure and over all better world. In the quest to live in this world they turn to the united states for answers, of course trump is somewhat right in the fact that some of the people coming to the states have malicious intentions and seek revenge even most of these people are just looking for a better life. But instead of attempting to solve the problem by banning these people maybe Trump could actually try and solve the problems created by his predecessors and bring balance to the middle east. The Americans blaming Muslims for their terrorism problems is like me throwing my partner in a group project under the bus for not finishing the project, now not only am I still losing marks I have just created an enemy. In conclusion the answer for solving this terrorism problem does not lie in excuses but in resolution.

  27. I would feel afraid if someone told me I couldn't go home for 90 days: Vetting is not a good we to get rid a terrorism because it is a very scary process to go through if you are innocent. The president is simply hating people for no good reason.
