I am asking for some input as to what changes should be made to the St. Thomas library.
Aside from some painting and new furniture, WHAT 21ST CENTURY additions should be made to promote: COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION, CRITICAL THINKING and CREATIVITY.
Explain your thoughts!
I think that they're should be more couches for people to sit on and relax because being at school and learning all day can be quite overwhelming sometimes also I think that food and drinks should be allowed and that garbage cans are near by so that messes won't be an issue. Also I think that there should be more tables and chairs because sometimes the library gets too full and then the teachers kick people out or don't let anyone else in.

DeleteWell for one, I feel like they should make a corner just for people to chill, like farther away from the computers and desks because annoying people always go to the only area of course near the desks and computers and they're loud as hell and they always distract me and many others. Aside from all the computers we have maybe the large shelf like thing in class with all the chromebooks so people can use them with the other empty desks, although I feel like those might become a problem later.
ReplyDeleteI think that in our library we should add more places to sit. For example maybe comfy chairs, bean bags or couches. There should be sections for kids to sit and interact with one another. Also the computers should be updated and get better ones aswell as more since sometimes theres only enough room for one class to use the computers. There should be more chairs and tables for students and/or teachers to complete their work and be enough room not to close the library doors since it’s too full.

DeleteWell for starters we should definitely have more seating places. There aren't enough places for everyone to sit. There should be more couches for people to sit on and we should have ipads and a charging stations for them. Because other classes who come to the library and can't use the computer because other classes are using them then they can't be provided with the proper information for their assignment. Also the computers should be updated to be honest. But it's not a big deal because they work perfectly fine as any other computer but the chromebook/mini laptops absolutely need an update. It's slow, the mouse barely works sometimes and it's always missing keyboard letter. Last but not least the library less books that no one will use and more books that we are most likely to use for projects and assignment. Like book about religion, fairytales, famous people, books we read in class, and books with good story such as winning novels for classes in sec 1 that make you read 3 books and write an essay on it.

DeleteOther than painting and stuff, i think that the library needs way more of those brown chairs at the entrance. It needs more comfortable chairs, couches, wtv, in general. I also think that the library needs more computers and quiet rooms. Two quiet rooms isnt enough. i know im not supposed to mention painting, but im gonna say it anyway. The library needs some graffiti, and not some crappy art, it needs professional art.
ReplyDeleteI find that whatever they do put more seating places because a library should not have a maximum number. It should be free because its a library where people go to study. I also say this because when u leave to go and drink water and your books are inside, they will not let u go because the library is full. First they did not count every kid so they do not know anything. Basically they should just put more seats.

DeleteIn the new library they need more seating because there is never any space. They also need crome books so when the desktop is full they have extra chrome books so people could sit at the table and worke until we don't need it we give it back.

DeleteI personally really like ow the library is setup but I do think it could use a change. To fit the more modern kind of library I think it would be a good idea to implement a bunch of chargers around the library. I think when a lot of kids go there to do their homework they'd like to be able to charge their phone while working. Another thing I would like to see added is chrome books. The amount of computers there sometimes is just not enough and if some people wanted to go off into the corner and type an essay quitely they could do that.

DeleteIf you ask me I don't think the library really has anything wrong with it that being said everything needs a new look once in a while. I think that there should be more computers and nicer furniture. I also think some nice colours would really change things more then people would think. I also think it would be really cool to have a whole wall that says st-Thomas library on it, maybe in graffiti. Another cool thing to have would be a place where people can just relax and maybe eat some food at the same time. Honestly I think that we should be allowed to eat and drink im the library as long as everyone is respectful and throws out there garbage.

DeleteI think for 2017 we need to incorporate more technology then we already have. No one really reads books anymore at least not a real hard cover book most people will use audio books or find the book online. These days our technology is very advanced and should be updated every now and then. Im not saying we should get rid of all the books but I think books that are worn out and that nobody reads anymore should be thrown out. As far as that I think it should be painted a more fun color and we should be aloud to eat/drink in the library.

Honestly I think that other than extra couches our library at school is perfect the way it is now and I wouldn't change it if it were up to me.

This section there should be many couches and a cosy seating area where kids can just go talk and study and just enjoy themselves peacefully. DeleteI think the library should have more laptops. Every time I go into the library all the computers are taken I think the library should have a sheet of paper or maybe even a website where you can request to use a laptop and at a certain time so getting a computer is more organised compared to the free for all on trying to get to use a computer. If you are not able to be at the library to use the laptop you can just cancel out your request and someone else who requested one will be able to use it. Also the laptops would not have a cord attached to it so you can take it wherever you want in the library, the laptops would have a tracker and a bar code on it to prevent people from stealing them. The bar code would activate the metal detector in the library, and the tracker would be used to locate the stolen laptop.

DeleteI think our library should take off the book shelf's in the middle in the library and the plants and with that extra room put more desks and chairs.I think that would be a good idea for the library because ninety percent of the time the librarie is full.With this extra space more people will be allowed in the librarie so it wont always be full and we can move the books on other shelf's or give them away because to be honest no one go's to the librarie to read books and if you do the librarians sometimes kick you out saying you are doing nothing and that the librarie is full.

DeleteHonestly putting this whole "modern" thing aside, more seating, tables and a wifi hotspot would be nice. The library doesn't need to be fancy, its a school library, so long as it can do its job well I'm happy but at the moment it has slow wifi so it takes time to do research for projects and it lacks seating so some people have to leave because there is not enough room.

DeleteFor a new library it should have some of those ladders that are on tracks because who doesnt like them and also some drawing boards for people to release there creativity or leave a anonymous message but really those ladders are very fun dont know how important they would really be but hey its fun.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don't really care about the library if I want to read any books I just pirate some books.The only thing that I ever used the library for was finishing last minute assignments and studying last minute for test. If you wanna make the library more useful for the students there should be an area designated for projects and one for studying for test. I mean when ever I go into the library at lunch that's all I see kids doing so ya that's my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think our library shouldn't do much renovation, with our library i find our library is perfectly fine it has the right amount of computers for kids to there work/projects. It has a lot of tables where kids could finish up their homework. But, i think painting the library is a good idea. The walls are very faded.

DeleteIn our library I think there could be a lot of good changes like adding more computers. And ether technological things. One of the main things that would be pretty cool would probably be the addition of a chrome book station so people could get a chrome book and sit wherever they want to do there work. Also it would be nice if there was a book finder thing on all the computers so that if you needed to find a certain books you could easily search it up and find where it is.

ReplyDeleteI think that St Thomas definitely need better computers. They are old and dirty. The library is too loud, we need rooms where students can focus on studying. The library can also have headphone for every computer if the student need to watch a video or listen to music. We will need a room where students can eat in the library.
There should be more computers , more table and chairs... these things will help with space and the amount of work that can be done in the library. It would also improve the envioment for the students. They could also make it look a little bit nicer and not as ragged and worn, if the make it nicer I'm almost one hundred percent sure that more people will want to go to the library instead of sitting in the car or something and doing nothing.

DeleteWhen I took a while and thought about how our library can be changed for the better, I couldn't really come up with anything non materialistic. our library in st Tomas is actually very good compared to the other schools I've been to. If we were talking about improving materialistic wise, than, of course more/better computers, more/better seating, walls and floors redone, etc. We can also get a bigger variety of reading material. Overall, our library is well rounded and we don't need many improvements.
ReplyDeleteI think that there should be more outlets to be able to charge iphones, ipads, laptops, etc. However other than that the library is pretty good. Other people mention seating but I think that would require a bigger library because its already pretty full of furniture; therefore an extension to the library would be a good way to serve the large student population.
