Things you want future teachers to know.
How have past teachers made school more enjoyable for you? Was there a project you really liked? Something they did in the classroom that you enjoyed? If not something you liked, what is something that all teachers should avoid doing?

Things teachers do that make school more enjoyable is when they give us time after class to talk to hour friends or work in groups. Just because it's fun to interact with someone instead of sitting for 50m in a row just listening to the talk and talk and talk. A project that i did in school that i really liked was in grade 7 when i made a catapult for science class with a group of friends. It was fun because we got to actually physically build something which is always fun because it's not just visual learning or just listening we get to ourselves do the physical part of the learning. Something that teachers should generally avoid is continuing to talk when they say "i will give you the whole class to do this" and then they get off topic and we end up only getting 15m to do the assignment which sucks. So they should avoid taking time out of class when a class assignment is due to talk about something off topic.

DeleteTeachers make school a lot more enjoyable by not always doing the same thing, in some classes teachers just talk and talk about a subject that's generally boring without letting you do partner work or talk. Teachers that encourage lost of group work and don't treat you like immature babies are the absolute best. Also I think it's really cool when teachers tell stories about why they started teaching or anything about themselves .I think all teachers should avoid routines.
ReplyDeletefor me teachers in the past made school more enjoyable by being less boring and being energized. i really enjoy working with people, not only you socialize but you get to learn more about people that you though you would never talk to. adults these days say that were always on our phone and that were not social, but by letting us talk to our peers and by making us do fun things, we'll actually enjoy talking about a fun topic.

DeleteHonestly the best teachers are the one that are jaded and straight forward. I once had a eng teacher would did not give a flying shit about any of his students, he'd teach us what we'd need to know, tell us our assignment then sit at his desk and go on his phone. The people who didn't pay attention, failed and the ones who did, succeeded. By the end of the year everyone had to listen to what he said cause they learned that, if not you fail.
ReplyDeleteThe best teachers are the teachers who listen. All the teachers I have ever had have always just assumed and never let people speak, let's say if you were talking to someone in class and the teacher catches you and gives you a detention without even wondering if maybe what you were talking was actually freaking important. So future teachers need to listen and actually think before they start throwing punishments around.
ReplyDeleteTeachers in the past have made school more enjoyable for me by giving me less stress, so by not giving to much homework and tests and by getting the class more involved with the lesson other then the teacher talking the whole class and us writing it down. I liked the projects sort of things for our tests and not just sitting at a desk and writing at test, I would much rather be in a group for a test. All teachers should avoid talking for too long and from making us do solo work too often.

DeleteTeachers honestly need to get more organized for one, like my history and homeroom teacher forgets to give us important forms. Like we just got the Haiti form a week or two ago unlike everyone who got it a month ago. My science teacher and others always forget to give us certain marks back they're always like you get it tomorrow and then we never end up getting it. My math teacher has been making correction mistakes on people's tests and he has to keep being notified about them. Second point is so many teachers talk too long and we end getting little time to work in class and everything always has to be done at home or in our own time. Like it used to be the case for gym at my old school like we knew how to play the sport but the teacher still spent most of class explaining the sport. This all needs to stop!
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don't mind teachers their there to help you succeed and do good in life. I had this one teacher Mrs Katz who I had history with and I absoluthated history but she made it so much fun like it didn't even feel like history and it was my favourite class to go to everyday because everyday she would change up the routine and I think all in all shes an amazing teacher. I feel that we shouldn't always be doing the same thing we should change it every now and then. When classes are more fun then the more kids will listen and the more people will pass.

ReplyDeleteI had a teacher that made me enjoy school. She was my french teacher in grade 3. She was always so creative with projects, and she makes learning fun for kids. I don't remember her name, but I do remember that she would use techniques to memories some rules in french. She will make trips that are really fun, and the other classes were always so jealous. I never liked doing school projects, so I didn't enjoy doing projects.
Some teachers have made school more enjoyable by being more energetic in the classroom, acting like a friend at the same time being a teacher, finding better ways to help kids learn, and being funny. I like the project when we had to create a poster about Waknuk being perfect because we had to create a poem (poems are cool), and because we had to draw. Anytime we watch a movie in any class, I'll enjoy it, but only until the movie is finished. All teachers should avoid hitting students and insulting them. They should also avoid being too strict and shoving useless information down our throats.

Teachers make class more enjoyable when we get to do group work. Group work teaches us how to work with others and helps with how social skills which are very important to have, especially for our future. We get to see other people's opinions and hear their thoughts. We see more than one point of view on things which expands our imagination. Thankfully Mr. Katz is a supporter of group work.

DeletePast teachers have made school more enjoyable by not making me fall asleep. What I mean is that they grab my attention and actually care about what they're doing. Mr. Katz for example is probably my favorite teacher. He is always doing fun activities that make me look forward to going to English. He also barely gives any homework and projects which is awesome. One project that really made school more enjoyable was when I did the cake project back in sec 1. I had a great time eating all the different cakes and I can't wait to do the same on Friday.
ReplyDeleteThe teachers that i like and that made my day more enjoyable , didn't give us much homework and where really chill, we watched lots of movies in class, did really awesome projects, every Friday was just a relaxing day, they never really gave us work. And the best thing if all that they did was they made lots of really funny jokes.

DeleteOne thing that ALL teachers must do is to never make students write notes down. For example, we shouldn't have a class where the teacher puts the notes on the board and we copy them down which is what most bad teachers do. Teachers in the past that make class more enjoyable was when they are energetic and not so boring that they stick to there notes and make you copy down notes. Also, they make it more fun when there not so strict that every little thing you do wrong you will get in trouble for.
ReplyDeleteI like when teachers actually listen and pay attention to their students. A teacher who is approachable and easy to talk to is always nice. Something that teachers need to avoid doing is saying things like "if you need me to repeat anything just ask" and then getting all upset when you ask them to repeat something. Then they'll say "I already explained that." Teachers need to also avoid over speaking, if they've made they're point they don't need to continue talking about it for the entire duration of the class because then we don't get any work done (because were supposed to be listening). Some teachers also give you very little time to work on stuff and then put a crap ton of pressure on you to finish it for their insane deadlines. I do enjoy activities in groups because its interesting to get a different view/take on the topic that you're working on.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I think should me mandatory for teachers to do is make what they’re teaching memorable. Any teacher can teach but not all teachers can make their students remember what they learnt after a long period of time. For example whatever I learnt in sec one I've now completely forgot because the teachers didn’t make the lesson memorable. The rules can be lenient with different subjects like. For example math is a hard subject to make memorable because you are just learning methods and equations but Science and french should be taught on a way that is memorable without distracting the students.

DeleteI feel like we give teacher's too much of a hard time. You have to bear in mind the fact that they must correct each and every paper from each and every student they teach, not only that but for such a little wage. Some teachers after awhile just simply get burn't out, troublemakers that constantly disrupt the class tend to just make their jobs a misery. With that being said, teachers can make or break a class, a good example would be mr.Genge for POP, POP could so easily be such a boring class but somehow mr.Genge has made it my favorite of all my classes this year. I honestly think homework should not be a thing and troublemakers should stop being a pain in they arse to deal with. Teachers then get the chance to do their job and to also have some fun in it opposed to being on daycare duty all day, by not handing out homework (or at least correcting it in class) and by actually punishing troublemakers I feel like school would be much more bearable than what it is in its current state.

DeleteIn the past I've had some really good teachers and some not so great ones. Something that I really appreciate teachers doing is having enthusiasm in what there talking about. In secondary one I had the best history teacher ever, I wouldn't even be tempted to fall asleep. I think that enjoying what your teaching helps a lot. I also really like it when teachers give us projects that are less stressful but still educating. For example presenting how to play chess, it was easy but fun!

ReplyDeleteTeachers who have made school more enjoyable for me is when they don’t put a lot of pressure on me, also when they don’t do the exact same thing everyday by just writing in my book. A project I really liked was last year when a group and I had to reenact a scene from Romeo and Juliet and we got to dress up and it was really fun. Something a teacher has done in the classroom that I enjoy is letting us sit where we want and also made it more like today’s days with less paper, such as Mr. Katz’s classroom.
let's get something straight here I HATE HOMEWORK. If its a project or something then ya I guess it makes sense to give it as homework as long as sufficient class time is given other then that homework can die especially if the teacher checks it as personally if I understand a topic then I won't usually do the homework as I find its unnecessary. So ya if you punish me for not doing homework as long as its not a project immediately I get pissed off as you are taking away my right to do chose if I need to do it or not. So ya if you assign regular mandatory homework with no value other than reviewing things learn't in class than you loose some of my attention and it will become a class that I will hate. Other than homework a relaxed teacher who isn't to strict about rules is great as it gives me the mobility to work in areas that I am weaker in rather then working on some stupid work package that won't help me one bit so ya that's my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI had one past teacher in elementary school that every Friday the teacher let us talk and do nothing only on those days. I really liked making those projects where I had to construct something that I really enjoyed. I think something that all teachers should avoid doing would be to not give tests because I really hate doing tests.
ReplyDeletefor starters homework should not be something a teacher should give out. Homework is the dumbest thing out there because teachers expect us to finish it in one day but they take 2 weeks to correct our test. Also they don't understand that it's our fault if we don't want to listen so why put strikes and detentions your just wasting everybody's time especially yours because you have to be with us then. Last I get we have 5 mins to get between classes but we should not get a strike for me a minute late because we have to travel across the school and back with all the traffic and also if we need to go to the bathroom we will be late and if we don't go during that 5 mins the teachers won't let us. So in my opinion I want teachers to be way more understanding.
ReplyDeleteTeachers who make learning more enjoyable are the ones that trust us and let us sit where we want, let us often work with others, let us use the chrome books ect. I also like when teachers set up the desks in groups since it's easier to do group work, which is much better than working alone. Some teachers should avoid repeating the same thing each class and try different methods of teaching to make learning more fun.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the time teachers give you a lecture the whole class about the same thing and expect you to be understanding after doing one or two worksheets. Teachers don't realize that listening to her talking for 50 mins is not really helping us much and i'm pretty sure a lot of people loose counteraction after a few mins. So far I haven't see a lot of teachers who have a unique way of teaching. My favorite teacher is Mr. Katz, because he lets us do a lot of group work and lets us try new activities often. Also Mr. Katz can be really chill but if you misbehave he knows how to handle it.

ReplyDeleteTeachers nowadays should be more energetic and actually like what their teaching. They should be less boring and not make it like a whole class of just useless lectures. I think teachers should interact more with the students and make good jokes here and there. They should let us socialize with each other and not make us silent the whole class. I think some teachers just do it for money and don't actually care about the students but that's my opinion.
